Seattle Symphony Seattle Concert reviews
Star Wars Fifth Symphony
I purchased a Platinum VIP Package, one of the few people. In the package, I was promised the following:
- One premium seat for Star Wars In Concert Platinum Package.
- Early admission to the Art & Craft of Star Wars Exhibit.
- Access to the Pre-Show VIP Lounge with appetizers & refreshments, memorabilia displays, themed backdrops, and personal attendant.
- Crowd-free merchandise booth.
- Refreshments during intermission.
- Exclusive Star Wars In Concert merchandise item and collectible laminate.
The VIP Lounge, to my dismay, did not live up to its VIP status. Despite being told it would be available at 12:30 in an email, it was not accessible until an hour later. When we were finally allowed in, there were no tables or chairs set up, and they were arranged while we were in the room. The small room, lacking memorabilia displays and themed backdrops, was not in a very VIP area of Nassau Coliseum. With only a total of 8 people in the room, we all paid the same amount for what we were promised but did not receive.
The appetizers at the VIP Lounge were delicious, with a table for hot items including Brie, skewered beef, mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto topped with basil, and crackers, and another table for cold items like seared tuna, seared scallops, oysters topped with bacon, and large cocktail shrimps. During intermission, the appetizers were replaced by popcorn, chips, brownies, and assorted brownies.
The show itself was anything but disappointing—it was magnificent. The replication of everything from the THX and 20th Century Fox sounds to the ending credits music was impressive. The orchestra's performance was breathtaking, with synchronized music, lights, and smoke effects, and the host, Anthony Daniels, was a fantastic narrator who captivated the audience with wit. The orchestra conductor also had notable moments during the performance.
Although the gift was intended for my boyfriend, a Seattle Symphony enthusiast, the concert inspired me to become a fan of the entire Star Wars saga. I was transformed into a Seattle Symphony nerd by the concert experience.
